MPD chief defends lying
to victims
In response to the Common Council's resolution of Nov. 21, 2006, the Madison Police Department reviewed its policies for dealing with people who purport to be victims of sensitive crimes. That policy, unveiled on Feb. 27, 2007, was essentially an affirmation of the department's existing policy, explicitly including the ability to
lie to alleged victims "as a last resort." This page posts coverage and reaction.
